THE PSALMS PROJECT: REVISITED
In 2018, I started The Psalms Project, a collection of one hundred and fifty pieces, each one representing a chapter of the book of Psalms.
I thought they would go viral.
THIS was going to be the breakout collection for Mercy Creates and solve ALL the problems.
It didn't happen that way. At all. In the slightest.
In fact, I was in those pods and Facebook groups to create fake traffic because they were getting 15–20 likes naturally, obviously not the 10k+ that I needed to be a viral hit...
I ghosted this project and begrudgingly took the 30 I created to the Art & Soul Festival, hoping to sell them for quick profit.
And a woman sat with those pieces for 40 minutes and asked to see MORE.
God's Word was alive to her, breathing encouragement to her, and I was there... grasping for internet fame.
I realized this project was what God wanted me to create, and I had to get over being a "Jonah" and running away from it.
Over the next year and a half, all 150 pieces were painted, printed in a book, sold online and in-person, inspired a "150 Day Challenge.”
It's still not internet famous by any means, but wow, oh, wow is God good.
